The Web Services team was recognized at the Los Angeles Digital Government Summit 2017 for their work on the City’s Amazon Alexa skill. The Ask Alexa digital assistant is the beginning of a new channel for residents to receive information from the City. Currently, Angelenos with an Amazon Echo, Amazon Dot, or any other Alexa-enabled device can use Alexa to "Ask L.A. City" about weekly news and featured events within the City. Many more features and information will be coming in the near future. The City has introduced a new “News Flash” feature which will stream the City Beat segment from Channel 35’s weekly program LA City View to Alexa users. To find more information and enable the skill on your Amazon Alexa, visit the News Flash page.
