Ted Ross Winner of Local Smart Awards 2022

Los Angeles City is proud to announce that The ITA (Information Technology Agency) General Manager Ted Ross has won the prestigious GoldenGov:City Executive of the Year award in the StateScoop's Local Smart Awards 2022. The Local Smart Awards honor government visionaries who, through innovation and inspiration, integrate new technologies to transform and advance the services of local government to make a difference in our citizens' lives.  Recognized as a top nominee was ITA’s DevSecOps team, a huge accomplishment for the team despite not making it to the winners circle.

Members of the state and local government technology community nominated more than 150 leaders and projects for the awards. From there, the StateScoop team narrowed the list to 80 finalists. Readers cast more than 750,000 votes between Sept. 23 and Nov. 11.  Mr. Ross continues to stand out as a leader amongst his tech peers. He was recognized for leading the transformation of outdated IT practices and infrastructure that were heightened at the onset of the pandemic, quickly modernizing the nation’s second largest city and implementing a modern, secure, and highly supportable telecommuting system, moving 20,000 city employees to telework in two weeks.  When learning of the Local Smart Award Executive of the Year Win, Ross said “That is fantastic and most welcome news! Thank you very much. What an honor.”

Although ITA’s DevSecOps team did not win the Local IT Innovation of the Year award, ITA is proud of the team’s recognition for creating a secure cloud hosting solution, supported by Infrastructure as Code (IaC), which included the deployment of a private network and controlled access into AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud providers, drastically reducing infrastructure deployment time from weeks to mere hours. Congratulations to the City of LA, Ted Ross and the ITA team!  For a full list of this year's winners go to statescoop.com
